Dance, Lost Love and Pole

Published October 3rd, 2012 in Diana, Embody Music | No Comments »

Feeling melancholy this morning for love lost, it’s such a prevalant and popular theme, songs, movies, books….missing what was, what could have been or wow, lucky it wasn’t. Heartbreak in dance is the most beautiful, I think. I need to switch it up with little heartbreak in my dance today, practicing for the Embody Anaheim Hills Grand Opening, I’m just about Nine Inch Nailed out! ;) Download it from ITunes with this handy, dandy link Lost Love Playlist

Music: A playlist for Vanessa

Published July 30th, 2012 in Embody Music | No Comments »

The best part about becoming a pole instructor is the relationships that I have developed with my students, who are my Embody family, my friends, and my inspiration. Vanessa, I am astonished by your strength and grace. When I see that you’ve signed up for my class, I rack my brain for something extra, because the spins and climbs seem to come so easily. I hope that my contribution to your growth as a pole dancer is a little bit of bump - you know, sexy musicality – and hopefully a diverse playlist to suit your moods.

Enjoy!

  1. “Eyes on Fire” (Zeds Dead remix) by Blue Foundation
  2. “The Mission” (M is for Milla mix) by Puscifer
  3. “Off with your Head” by Sweet Sister Pain
  4. “No Church in the Wild” by Kanye West and Jay-Z, featuring Frank Ocean
  5. “Careless Whisper” (Strings Version) by Seether
  6. “#1 Crush” by Garbage
  7. “Closer” by Kings of Leon
  8. “Window Blues” by Lykke Li
  9. “Stripped” by Shiny Toy Guns
  10. “I Want it all/We will rock you (Mash-up)” by Queen, featuring Armageddon, a.k.a. Geddy)

Saturday morning playlist

Published April 1st, 2012 in Embody Music | No Comments »

I love playlists. I was the girl at university that could make you a mix for anything. I mean, anyone can create the perfect Road Trip mix, or Girl’s Night Out collection, but how about for finals week? Or for pulling an all-nighter? You name it, and I had a mix for it.

When it comes to pole dancing, then, it’s no surprise that I have very specific ideas for setting the mood. In creating this playlist, I was thinking about that delicious, lazy Saturday morning feeling, when you are energized but not quite awake. As it happened, Saturday morning was crisp, cool, and a bit overcast – a perfect complement to the easy rhythms of this mix:

  1. “Clean” by Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson (yes, that Scarlett Johansson)
  2. “Let it Fall” by Lykke Li
  3. “Suddenly I see” by KT Tunstall
  4. “Sun of a Gun” by Oh Land
  5. “Vegas” by Sara Bareilles
  6. “So Happy I Could Die” by Lady Gaga
  7. “Maybe Tomorrow” by Stereophonics
  8. “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” by Kelly Clarkson

Enjoy!

Love, Kristin

Funky, Interesting Pole Dance Playlist

I spend hundreds of dollars on my ITunes music, literally. I am, single-handedly keeping Apple afloat. I search, I find, I love, then I Genius and find some more! Sometimes hours and many dollars have passed before I look up and realize, I must eat! I must sleep! It’s unbelievable how much amazing music is out there, all just longing to be danced to! I’ve found some interesting, sort-of funky tunes for this playlist. Some you may have heard, some may be new to you, I really love them all and hope you do too! :)

The Storm-Mother Tongue

Birds of Prey-Christina Aguilera

Beautiful-Snoop Dogg

Repression and Pole Dancing and a Pole Dancing Playlist!

Published February 21st, 2012 in Diana, Embody Music | No Comments »

Sprained ankles are not conducive to pole dancing! I have discovered something interesting about myself, well I really already knew this, but it has become abundantly clear, Pole Dancing is absolutely my release. My release for stress, for happiness, for anger, for love, for fear, for just about every feeling I can think of. I have learned it’s not the tricks that give me the release, this feeling of freedom, I so sorely miss, it’s the dance, the flow, the fluidity the utter release of creative energy. Not that I don’t love the tricks, “getting” THAT trick or combo, the one you’ve been working on for a month, nothing compares to that feeling, but I’ve learned, with a useless ankle, how much I need the dance part of Pole Dance. That said, the playlist I wish I could dance to! Do a dance for me. :D

Love yourself this week and dance!
