I love ice cream, no, I LOVE ice cream, the sugary deliciousness….oh, once it touches your lips it’s hard to stop until….well, until it’s completely gone. Having been deprived of ice cream for six months, I have more than made up for it. My favorite is Butter Pecan. So tonight, it’s Butter Pecan ice cream and Pole Dancing, a sugary, sexy combination! Here is my sugary playlist, have your fav ice cream, hit the play button, turn the music full blast and DANCE!

It is always great having people come up to me after class and tell me “Thank you!” or “I loved your class”. It is also nice to hear they had a great time at my classes and loved the atmosphere after previously trying the same type of dance class at other studios. I have gotten that for the past two weeks! Burlesque was a journey that started for me in 1999 when I first discovered who Cherry Knight and Tempest Storm were one night while watching TV late and it further developed while I was working as a go go dancer in LA a few years later when I saw some fliers for Kitty Diggins performances….I never knew then that those small moments would later affect the lives of so many other women….kind of crazy to think small life moments of your own could seriously impact others…..Have a great weekend you cool cats!

Need inspiration! My mantra every Thursday and Sunday, the days I come to the studio to train. I practice on the pole every day, but Sundays and Thursdays I TRAIN on the pole, working on moves and sequences I am wanting to accomplish. I also use this time to format and choreograph the floorwork in the classes and workshops. Sometimes I have a really hard time finding inspiration. I watch YouTube, I play music, I psych myself up, all to no avail, suddenly, it comes to me, from somewhere, from nowhere, the moves come together, and the routine materializes as if it had always been…I really think it’s the music. A song or a string of songs that touches me, that reminds me of something or someone I used to love…suddenly, I’m inspired.
My inspiration for the week, I hope it inspires you as well.

Sometimes it’s 10:00 at night and I just get this urge to dance, it’s too late to go to the studio. Or it’s 6:30 on Wednesday, smack in the middle of Jackie’s Embody Barre class and I want, no need, to pole dance…well for Christmas this year I bought Embody and myself a stage pole! Knowing that stage poles are a different world than ceiling mounted poles and when I compete I need to be able to dance and play on a stage pole, I took the quite costly plunge. For the record it was worth every penny! The first night it was up I pole danced all night with a huge smile!

The Holidays! When they start I’m always overwhelmed with thoughts of “Again, so fast, it was just summer time!” But yes, they are here and I’m excited! I’m in such a good mood today, Thanksgiving! I get to spend the day with my family, I have an entire 4 days off work, to do whatever I want! I’m pulling out my fall fashions, boots, jeans, sweaters, coats, scarves!! I am really feeling blessed today, I have so much in my life that is amazing. Embody has brought so many beautiful, wonderous women into my life, through them I have become a better person! Thank you Embody students, you are beautiful women. All of our instructors are such phenomenal people and love what they do so much, their love and passion comes through in every smile, every encouraging word! I have been blessed with a fantastic, supportive family, who love me throughout all my craziness. I’m excited for the Holidays and I’m excited for the new year and all it holds! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a wonderful Holiday! My Turkey Day gift to you is my new playlist, I really love it and hope you do too! Lately I’ve been too busy to pole dance…I teach and I dance then, but it’s not the same as a dark studio, me lost in the music and my own universe. I have deeply felt the effects of this loss, in myself; I am tenser, easy to take life more seriously than it should be taken. This loss has only confirmed for me how much pole dancing has become a part of my life and who I am. How in the world did I ever get through life without Pole Dancing? Once you have found something so amazing living without it actually takes a bit of you away. Happiness….piece of mind, should take precedence over laundry, dishes, folding clothes, yes, I’ll say it, even family and work. It doesn’t take much to bring my barometer back into balance and grant me the piece of mind and happiness I desperately need, all it takes is a couple hours a week to myself, to dance, to be free. This gives me the freedom and desire to make everyone around me happier. I’m also more productive and let’s face it, just plain nicer, when I give myself this lovely gift of time. I plan on giving myself a little love today…here is my latest playlist, the one I’ll be dancing to. Enjoy!
Hold On to Me-Sugarplum Fairies
Strange and Beautiful-Aqualung
What You See Is What You Get-SKOLD

Sometimes we feel depleted, I think especially women. We give so much to everyone else. Our children, husband, jobs, family, really it’s never ending. When you feel empty and need to be refilled, take a vacation away from everyone, if you can’t take that much needed trip to Florida, then take an emotional vacation, it’s free and can work wonders on the soul. Plug in your Ipod, raise the volume on your favorite playlist, you know, the one that takes you somewhere else, that gives you the “I’m sexy, I’m amazing, and love the feel of my body” feeling, close your eyes and float, spin, twist, and slink around your pole. Let yourself and your mind go, if only for a little whil50e. Here is a playlist that can take me there. I love the sounds, the rhymes, the pulses. Enjoy and take your vacation when you need it!
